Bitdeer Makes Progress with Sealminer A3 Ahead of Its 2025 Launch, Achieving a 9.7 J/TH Milestone
The SEAL03 chip, which is specifically engineered for Bitdeer’s upcoming Sealminer A3 mining machines, showcased an impressive efficiency of 9.7 J/TH during prototype tests conducted under low-voltage and extremely power-saving conditions. This achievement represents a substantial stride in enhancing the energy efficiency of bitcoin mining hardware, which has become a crucial element as the industry grapples with shrinking profit margins.
The large-scale production of the Sealminer A3 is scheduled to kick off in the latter half of 2025. This positions Bitdeer to actively participate in the highly competitive market for high-efficiency mining rigs. Additionally, the company is pressing ahead with the development of its Sealminer A4 model. The goal for the A4 is to reach an efficiency of 5 J/TH, and the initial chip tape-out is planned for the third quarter of 2025.
To support these technological advancements, Bitdeer is also expanding its infrastructure. A 100 MW hydro-cooling facility situated in Rockdale, Texas, initiated phased energization in March 2025. Currently, more than 500 Sealminer AI units at this facility are already up and running. In Norway, the 40 MW Tydal Phase 1 project is close to securing regulatory approval. Meanwhile, at Bhutan’s 500 MW Jigmeling site, the completion of the substation remains on schedule for the end of March 2025.
The management of Bitdeer has highlighted the importance of capitalizing on its 2.6 GW global power portfolio to drive the growth of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. The company has indicated that it is dedicated to implementing its chip development roadmap and infrastructure expansion plans. It also mentioned that it is engaged in ongoing discussions with U.S.-based partners regarding large-scale projects.
Until May 2025, Bitdeer will provide updates at various investor conferences, such as the ROTH Growth Conference and Bitcoin 2025.
